5-part hematology analyzers

Automated CBC analyzers that sort white blood cells into all five types: neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils and basophils. Milap International supplies, installs and services the Sysmex XN range, from a compact open-tube analyzer for small labs to the high-throughput XN-1000.

What is a 5-part hematology analyzer?

A 5-part hematology analyzer is an automated instrument that runs a complete blood count (CBC) and separates white blood cells into five types: neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils and basophils. The Sysmex XN analyzers Milap supplies do this with fluorescent flow cytometry and also report immature granulocytes (IG), which is why Sysmex calls it a 6-part differential.

A fuller differential helps doctors read infections, allergies and blood disorders with more confidence, and it cuts the number of samples that need a manual smear review.

What does a 5-part differential report?

Neutrophils

The most common white cells. High counts usually point to bacterial infection or inflammation.

Lymphocytes

Often raised in viral infections; very high or low counts need further investigation.

Monocytes

Can rise in chronic infections and inflammatory conditions.

Eosinophils

Rise with allergies, asthma and parasitic infections. A 3-part analyzer cannot report them separately.

Basophils

The rarest white cells, also missing from a 3-part count. Raised counts can be a sign of some bone-marrow disorders.

Immature granulocytes (IG)

Reported by every Sysmex XN model with no extra reagent; a raised IG count can be an early sign of sepsis.

Which model fits your lab?

Clinics and small labs

The Sysmex XN-330 gives a full differential with IG from 25 µL of blood, with open-tube sampling in a compact benchtop unit.

Small and mid-sized hospital labs

The Sysmex XN-350 adds a low WBC mode, 100,000-result storage and optional reticulocyte and body fluid counts.

Busy hospital and diagnostic labs

The Sysmex XN-550 adds an automated sample loader with automatic rerun and reflex, for walk-away CBC testing.

Large hospital and reference labs

The Sysmex XN-1000 runs up to 100 samples per hour with NRBC and reticulocytes on every sample.

3-part or 5-part: which do you need?

A 3-part analyzer groups white cells into lymphocytes, mid-sized cells and granulocytes. It is affordable and fast, and suits clinics with routine CBC screening. A 5-part analyzer counts eosinophils and basophils separately and flags abnormal cells more precisely, so fewer samples need a manual smear review.

Choose 5-part if you handle hospital, paediatric or oncology work, see many abnormal samples or want fewer smear reviews. Choose 3-part if you need a low-cost CBC for routine screening.

Looking for 3-part? See the Avantor BeneSphera H33s, or the HORIBA Microsemi CRP for CBC and CRP from one sample.

Frequently asked questions

It is an automated CBC analyzer that separates white blood cells into five types: neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils and basophils.

A 3-part analyzer reports three white cell groups (lymphocytes, mid cells and granulocytes). A 5-part analyzer reports all five types separately, including eosinophils and basophils, and flags abnormal samples more precisely.

Both terms are used. Sysmex XN analyzers report the five white cell types plus an immature granulocyte (IG) count, which Sysmex calls a 6-part differential.

The Sysmex XN-330 suits clinics and small labs: it gives a full differential with IG from 25 µL of blood with open-tube sampling. Labs that also want reticulocyte or body fluid counts can choose the XN-350.

It depends on the model, sampling method, optional modes and the reagent and service plan. Share your daily CBC volume and we will send pricing, the reagent cost per test and an AMC quote.

Yes. Milap engineers install and commission the analyzer, train your staff, supply genuine Sysmex reagents and controls, and offer preventive maintenance, AMC or CMC with breakdown support from Bengaluru.

Milap International, based in Bengaluru, supplies 5-part hematology analyzers to hospitals, laboratories and clinics across Karnataka as an authorised channel partner for the brands on this page, with installation, training and service from the same team.
