What is a nebulizer?
A nebulizer is a device that turns liquid medicine into a fine mist that is breathed in through a mask or mouthpiece, so the medicine reaches the lungs directly. Doctors prescribe nebulised medicine for conditions such as asthma, COPD and bronchitis, especially for young children and for people who find inhalers hard to use.
OMRON makes two types: compressor nebulizers, which use air pressure, and mesh nebulizers, which use a vibrating mesh and run on batteries.
What to look for in a nebulizer
Particle size
Smaller particles reach deeper into the lungs. The CompAir models produce particles of about 3 µm (MMAD).
Noise
Quieter devices are easier for children. The RE-C800KD runs at about 45 dBA and the mesh MicroAir is virtually silent.
Portability
The MicroAir NE-U100 weighs about 90 g and runs on 2 AA batteries; compressor models need mains power.
Who will use it
Child masks and a character accessory make treatment easier for young children.
Medicine wastage
Virtual Valve Technology on the NE-C801 reduces wasted medicine.
Cleaning
Kits that come apart easily are simpler to wash after each use.

Which nebulizer fits?
Home use for the family
The CompAir NE-C801 is compact and comes with adult and child masks and a mouthpiece.
Young children
The CompAir RE-C800KD is OMRON’s lightest compressor, runs quietly and includes a character accessory and child mask.
Travel and bedside use
The MicroAir NE-U100 fits in a pocket, runs on batteries and works at any angle, even lying down.
Always use a nebulizer with the medicine and dose your doctor has prescribed.
Compressor or mesh nebulizer?
A compressor nebulizer pushes air through the medicine to make the mist. It is sturdy and affordable, and suits regular treatment at home or in a clinic, but it needs a power socket and makes some noise.
A mesh nebulizer pushes the medicine through a fine vibrating mesh. It is small, almost silent and battery powered, so it suits travel, sleeping children and patients who are lying down. Its mesh needs careful cleaning after each use.

Frequently asked questions
A compressor nebulizer uses air pressure and mains power; a mesh nebulizer uses a vibrating mesh, is nearly silent and runs on batteries.
The CompAir RE-C800KD is designed for children: it is light, quiet (about 45 dBA) and comes with a child mask and character accessory. The MicroAir NE-U100 is virtually silent and can be used while a child sleeps.
The MicroAir NE-U100. It weighs about 90 g without batteries, runs on 2 AA batteries and works at any angle.
MMAD is the typical size of the mist droplets. Smaller droplets, around 3–5 µm, travel deeper into the lungs.
Wash the nebulizer kit and mask after each use and let them air-dry, and replace air filters on compressor models regularly, as the instruction manual describes.
