Point-of-care meters
Handheld meters that give a lab-style result from a finger-prick drop of blood in minutes, wherever the patient is. Milap International supplies and supports the SD Biosensor STANDARD LipidoCare for lipid profile and glucose, and the STANDARD G6PD for G6PD screening.
SD Biosensor STANDARD LipidoCare
Lipid profile and glucose from one drop
G6PD activity and haemoglobin in about 2 minutes
What is a POC meter?
A point-of-care (POC) meter is a small, portable analyzer that tests a drop of blood on a disposable strip and shows the result in minutes, without sending the sample to a lab. The SD Biosensor STANDARD LipidoCare reports a full lipid profile and glucose from 35 µL of blood, and the STANDARD G6PD reports G6PD enzyme activity and haemoglobin from 10 µL in about 2 minutes.
Because the result arrives during the visit, the doctor can decide on treatment before the patient leaves.
What can you test on a POC meter?
Total cholesterol
Measured on the LipidoCare lipid strip, range 100–450 mg/dL.
Triglycerides and HDL
Measured on the same strip, with LDL, LDL/HDL and non-HDL calculated automatically.
Glucose
Measured on the LipidoCare, range 20–600 mg/dL.
G6PD activity
Quantitative result in U/g Hb on the STANDARD G6PD, including intermediate activity.
Haemoglobin
Reported alongside G6PD on the STANDARD G6PD.
Finger-prick samples
Both meters accept capillary or venous whole blood, so no phlebotomy is needed.

Which meter fits your setting?
Clinics and pharmacies
The STANDARD LipidoCare gives a lipid profile and glucose during the consultation, with no lab needed.
Health camps and corporate screening
The LipidoCare is handheld, and its strips store at room temperature.
Malaria treatment programmes
The STANDARD G6PD checks G6PD status before primaquine or tafenoquine is given.
Newborn and community screening
The STANDARD G6PD identifies deficient and intermediate G6PD activity from a heel or finger prick.

Why test at the point of care?
Sending a sample to a lab means a second visit or a phone call to share the result, and some patients never come back. A POC meter gives the number while the patient is still in the room, so advice and treatment start the same day.
The meters are small, battery powered and simple to run, which makes them practical for clinics, pharmacies, wards and outreach camps that have no lab on site.

Frequently asked questions
It is a handheld analyzer that tests a small blood sample on a disposable strip and shows the result within minutes, at or near the patient.
Milap supplies the SD Biosensor STANDARD LipidoCare for lipid profile and glucose, and the STANDARD G6PD for G6PD activity and haemoglobin.
The LipidoCare needs 35 µL for a full lipid profile or 10 µL for a single test. The STANDARD G6PD needs 10 µL.
That depends on your clinic’s protocol. The meter measures whatever sample is applied; many doctors ask for a fasting sample when triglycerides matter.
LipidoCare strips are stored at 2–32 °C and STANDARD G6PD test devices at 2–30 °C, so neither needs a refrigerator in most settings.
Yes. Milap supplies genuine SD Biosensor strips and controls and supports the meters after the sale.
Milap International, based in Bengaluru, supplies point-of-care meters to hospitals, laboratories and clinics across Karnataka as an authorised channel partner for the brands on this page, with installation, training and service from the same team.
